RM2 surcharge for OTC service by Maybank
Today, in one of local newspaper, it appears that Maybank, as the biggest local bank in Malaysia currently going to introduce another new surcharge amounted at RM2. This is for Over-The-Counter withdrawal service with an amount of below RM4,500.00
All this while, Maybank has been known as a controversial commercial bank with many kind of charges they try to implement. Last time, they tried to introduce RM12/year charges for their online banking users but dropped it after a huge complaint sent due to that. Now another one is coming.
Maybank uses a reason “to encourage customers using ATM service” to introduce this service. In the newspaper, it stated that, even though in other countries, the banks discourage using OTC for the said withdrawal amount, the banks did not charge any amount if the customer still want to do so.
Will another petition be sent by people again for this?
